A dizzying week and something cool in the palm of your hand
Pulp Empire 3. The miniature edition
I received the now-annual COVID-19 vaccine as well as my flu shot this week. Like previous doses of the still horribly named Comirnaty, it knocked me down for the better part of two days with awful headaches and dizziness. Unfortunately, on the other side of the downtime, I still don’t seem to have gained any 5G super-zombie powers. I have to admit I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t get any laser eyes at all.
Getting knocked down by the vaccine definitely slowed down a few of my plans for promoting Witchblood. As you’re receiving this, I just sent out the first update to the Kickstarter campaign. As I write this, the project is just past 50% funded. If you haven’t backed it, I could use your help. I know everyone might not have the cash in our current economy to help make the book a reality, but something as simple as a share on social media can help bring more eyes to the book.
One add-on I wanted to focus on here that I haven’t tried before is a custom miniature of Silke. Thanks to the services of Heroforge, I can design a 3D model of Silke in both male and female forms. The 30mm scale of the figures is standard for most RPG and wargames. Producing figures like these isn’t cheap which is why I’m limiting them to a maximum of 5 backers each.

I have no plans to ever make more than five of each figure, so if you’re interested in cool Silke miniatures, this is your one-and-only chance to get one. They are available as add-ons for any physical order in the United States.
Outside of Kickstarter news, I used my time stuck in bed to catch up on a lot of reading, mostly of the gigantic comic pile I have at the side of the bed. Among the stand-outs have been Opus Comics’ Death Dealer, easily the best comic version of Frank Frazetta’s classic creation, and Mark Millar and Pepe Larraz’s Big Game, a crossover event of every Millarworld character created over the last fifteen years or so. Another excellent title, Jim Zub and Robert De La Torre’s Conan the Barbarian from Titan has inspired me to check out one of the books on my reading list below.
Currently reading: Conan the Barbarian by Jim Zub Volume 1.
Currently playing: Marvel SNAP.
Currently watching: Warrior Season 1.
As always, be sure to check out DC: A New Dawn every Monday through Friday for new reviews from yours truly.
Next time, I’ll be back with some non-Kickstarter talk as I’m part of a big promotion with a plethora of other superhero fiction authors. I’m always available to be reached right here on social media or through the Substack Notes feature. I’ll see you in seven.

How does HeroForge work? Do you send in a request and some money and they make the figure, or is it more complicated?
And do they just do sword and sorcery figures, or can it be any type of fictional characters?
